ABOUT WHEEL MOVEMENT
Our Mission is to promote safe and accessible bicycling
in Augusta Georgia’s River Region.
Who we are
Wheel Movement (WM) is a 501(c)3 non-profit volunteer bicycling advocacy organization.
It was founded in 2011 following the death of local friend and cycling enthusiast, Dr. Matthew Burke, who was fatally injured while riding his bike. It is through this tragedy that leaders of WM have turned their pain into mobilized passion, action, and new policy. WM aims to make road-sharing the norm and safe biking everyone’s priority. We exist to educate, advocate, and congregate as a community to make Augusta’s River Region a bicycle-friendly environment.
What We Do
Wheel Movement supports the local bicycling community. We recognize the lifestyle, economic, health, and tourism values of bicycling and provide educational programs, outreach initiatives, and advocacy efforts that generate and sustain a positive bicycling environment for all residents and visitors in Augusta’s River Region.
